ChILL in the Morning

ChILL = Children Independently Leading Learning

‘ChILL in the Morning’ is a programme which promotes children to actively engage in their learning from the moment they walk through the gates.
There are challenges or a series of tasks provided for all children. The children can choose to work independently, in a group, or with an adult to try a challenge or complete a task. Activities develop incrementally in learning as we move up the school.

ChILL in the morning fits with Clarkville’s philosophy and research into education.

This includes:
  • Learning happens everywhere at anytime
  • Children are the leaders
  • There is always a choice
  • Children should own their learning
  • That engagement leads to learning
  • That our children are born into a highly stimulating environment. It is our responsibility as facilitators to make educators just as stimulating
  • We are developing children’s ‘skills to learn’ rather than handing them knowledge
  • Providing children with hands-on learning experiences
  • Providing children with purposeful and meaning learning in context
  • Authentic learning opportunities that can be applied
